School of Computing

        The School of Computing equips students for the future in a fast-changing and fascinating sector. From networking to cybercrime, sound design to web development, we offer innovative, accredited courses taught by industry experts in labs that feature cutting-edge kit. With professional accreditation from the British Computer Society, our wide range of innovative courses is designed to meet industry needs.

        The School of Computing is a member of a number of software alliance schemes which allows us to provide students of the school a large range of free software, to enable the appropriate learning and development. Membership currently includes the Microsoft Academic Alliance (MSAA), the VMWare Academic Program (VMAP) and the iPhone Developer University Program. We are one of only two NVIDIA CUDA Teaching Centres in Scotland, a Cisco Academy Support Centre and an Encase Partner. Students benefit through access to the latest hardware, software and expertise.

        The School of Computing has some of the most impressive computing facilities in a UK university including:

        Jack Kilby Computer Centre (500 PCs with 24/7 access in term time)

        Specialist labs including Cisco networking, general networking, embedded systems for Linux, security and forensics and embedded systems

        Games development lab with high spec PCs, PS3 development kits and NVIDIA enhanced machines

        Two specialist digital media labs, one with iMacs computers and one with high spec PCs

        Visual Effects lab

        Disciplines include; Software Engineering, Sound Design, Games Development, Business Information Systems, Computer Security and Forensics and Digital Media Global.
